The Township is responsible for the collection of development charges in accordance with the Development Charges Act. Development charges assist in financing capital projects that are required to meet the increased need for services resulting from growth and development. 

Development charges:

  • are collected at the building permit approval stage;
  • help pay for the costs of providing the infrastructure required by new development.

Development Charge By-law No. 21-84 includes both development charges which are applicable on a municipal-wide basis and on an urban service area basis which is payable in addition to the municipal-wide charge.
