ADJALA-TOSORONTIO, ON – This morning, Brian Saunderson, Member of Provincial Parliament for the riding of Simcoe-Grey, announced the Ontario government is investing up to $29,980,769 to rehabilitate water infrastructure in Adjala-Tosorontio. The funding comes from the province’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Health and Safety Water Stream (MHIP-HSWS), which has increased by $700 million for a total of $875 million to support access to safe drinking water, housing, job creation and protection for communities in the event of extreme weather events.
“Planning for growth means investing in the systems that make it possible,” said Brian Saunderson, MPP for Simcoe-Grey. “This investment will support important upgrades in Everett while helping ensure Adjala-Tosorontio has the servicing capacity needed to move forward with new housing. It is about making sure families today, and in the years ahead, can count on safe, dependable infrastructure in their community.”
The MHIP-HSWS funding will be used in Adjala-Tosorontio to support Everett wastewater system upgrades and new housing servicing.
“I’m delighted to see continued provincial investment which is helping Adjala-Tosorontio modernize the infrastructure that protects our residents,” said Mayor Scott W. Anderson. “Working with strong partners and guided by prudent long‑range planning, we are aligning growth with servicing capacity so our community remains safe, sustainable, and well‑served.”
This funding is part of a historic investment of $4 billion in the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP), included in Ontario’s $220 billion capital plan, the most ambitious in the province’s history, to build transit, highways, hospitals, schools and water infrastructure that enables new housing.
“As we continue to navigate economic uncertainty and unwarranted U.S. tariffs, our government is protecting Ontario by investing in critical infrastructure that drives growth, creates jobs and strengthens communities,” said Todd McCarthy, Acting Minister of Infrastructure. “Through our historic $4 billion Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, we are giving municipalities and First Nations the tools they need to get shovels in the ground and build stronger communities. Our investments will deliver more homes, modernize aging water systems and lay the foundation for long-term prosperity across Ontario.”
“This investment reinforces how essential strong collaboration is between our municipalities and the Province,” said Simcoe County Warden Basil Clarke. “Through coordinated efforts, we can continue to deliver core infrastructure upgrades and developments that support planned growth and maintain safe, dependable services for the people we serve.”
