FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Adjala-Tosorontio, ON, August 25, 2026 – The Township of Adjala-Tosorontio officially celebrated the grand opening of its new pickleball courts at Dekker Street Park the morning of August 25, 2026, welcoming residents, families, local dignitaries, and community members for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a morning of friendly competition.
The event marked an exciting milestone in the Township’s ongoing investment in recreational infrastructure and community spaces. Following the official ribbon cutting, residents of all ages took to the courts to enjoy friendly pickleball games, with local children and families joining in the celebrations and helping showcase the growing popularity of the sport.
The new courts provide additional opportunities for recreation, physical activity, and social connection, while enhancing the Township’s park amenities for current and future residents.
“Today’s grand opening was about much more than new courts. It was about bringing our community together,” said Mayor Scott W. Anderson. “One of the most rewarding moments was seeing adults enjoying a game on one court while children filled the other, learning and playing alongside their friends. By the end of the morning, both courts were full of young people with pickleball paddles in hand, excited to be part of the action. That kind of enthusiasm is exactly why Council continues to invest in recreational spaces. These courts are already creating opportunities for residents of all ages to connect, stay active, and build a stronger sense of community.”
The pickleball courts are part of the Township’s continued commitment to creating accessible, welcoming recreational spaces that encourage healthy and active lifestyles. As one of Canada’s fastest-growing sports, pickleball offers an inclusive activity that can be enjoyed by players of all ages and skill levels.
Residents are encouraged to visit Dekker Street Park, 27 Dekker Street in Everett, and Haley Park, 2774 County Road 50 in Loretto, to experience the new courts and enjoy the many recreational opportunities available throughout Adjala-Tosorontio.
