Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a yellow warning – freezing rain for our area today, Sunday, December 28, 2025. A special weather statement has also been issued for high wind with wind gusts potentially reaching 70 to 80 kmh. Our Public Works team is ready—every vehicle has been checked, and we have 9 trucks on standby.
Stay Home if Possible
We strongly encourage residents to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel during this weather event. While our crews will be out working hard, safety is our top priority—for you and our drivers. If ice accumulation creates a safety hazard for our operators, we may need to declare a significant weather event and temporarily pull plows off the roads.
There is a possibility that power lines may be impacted or brought down due to the weight of accumulating ice combined with high winds. Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution while travelling. If you encounter a downed power line, please contact Alectra Utilities at 1-833-253-2872 or Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235, depending who the service provider is.
