Budget and Finances

As of May 1, 2025, the Province of Ontario expanded strong mayor powers for several municipalities in Ontario, including the Township of Adjala-Tosorontio. In accordance with the Municipal Act, the Mayor is responsible for preparing and proposing a budget to Council before February 1st of each year. The proposed budget can be amended by a resolution of Council.

2026 Proposed Budget


In accordance with Ontario Regulation 530/22, the Proposed 2026 Budget was provided to Members of Council and to the Clerk and was made publicly available on November 3, 2025. A Special Council Meeting was held on November 26, 2025 to discuss and make amendments to the budget. After a 1-day veto period (See Strong Mayor’s Power page), the Budget was deemed adopted on December 4, 2025. With a tax rate of 2.45%, $8.92 for an average home assessed at $500,000 by MPAC, this budget sets the stage for significant community improvements while maintaining a responsible approach to taxation.

Key Projects
โ€ข Road Improvements: Reconstructing Concession Road 2, Resurfacing Adjala Sideroad 10 and Tosorontio Sideroad 5, and converting Concession Road 3 Adjala to tar and chip.
โ€ข Bridge Replacement: Bridge 11 will be replaced to ensure safe and reliable transportation.
โ€ข Park Upgrades: Investments in local parks to improve amenities for families and visitors.
โ€ข Pickleball Courts: New courts at Decker Street and Haley Park, responding to growing community interest in this popular sport.
