Notice is hereby given that Nominations for the following offices will be accepted by the Clerk:
Township Council:
- Mayor – One to be elected at large
- Deputy Mayor – One to be elected at large
- Councillor – Five Wards – One to be elected from each Ward
School Board Trustees:
- Simcoe County District School Board (English-Public) – To be filed at the Township of Essa
- Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (English-Separate) – To be filed at the Town of New Tecumseth
- Conseil Scolaire Viamond (French-Public) – To be filed at the City of Barrie
- Conseil Scolaire Catholique MonAvenir (French-Separate) – To be filed at the City of Barrie
Nominations will be accepted IN PERSON by the Clerk (or designate) during the following dates and times at the Municipal Centre, 7855 Sideroad 30, Alliston:
- May 1, 2026 through to August 20, 2026 during regular business hours (Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays)
- August 21, 2026, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. (Nomination Day)
Appointments to file a nomination can be made by email elections@adjtos.ca or by phone 705-434-5055 ext. 221. Those wishing to submit a nomination are encouraged to set up an appointment to ensure staff availability.
All nomination forms must be submitted IN PERSON by the Candidate or the Candidate’s Agent and be accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing fee of $100.00 per office or $200.00 for the office of Mayor, payable by debit, cash, certified cheque, or money order. All nominations are required to be endorsed by at least 25 persons eligible to vote at the time the endorsement is signed.
Candidates are required to show proof of identity and qualifying address at the time the Nomination Paper (FORM 1) is filed. If an agent files the Nomination Paper, it must be accompanied by a piece of Government Photo Identification including address, with the signature of the candidate prior to filing with the Clerk or designate.
In the event there are an insufficient number of certified candidates to fill all positions available, nominations will be reopened for the vacant positions only on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and such additional nominations, if required, may be filed with the Clerk or designate at the Municipal Centre, 7855 Sideroad 30, Alliston.
Electors are hereby given notice that if a greater number of candidates are certified than are required to fill the said offices, voting will be opened on the dates stated below for the purpose of voting.
- Internet and Telephone Voting: Electors will be able to cast a ballot anytime, anywhere from October 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. through to October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m.
